James Journeys to Israel

On Tuesday, March 30th we got an unexpected call from James Joseph (the Jesus Guy): he is in Israel for Holy Week! A friend of his who works for Delta Airlines invited him to go for free, and while he is wearing "ordinary" clothes at the airport and major checkpoints, James says his normal robe attire is creating quite a shock.
On Monday he arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel and he is currently in Ramallah, a city that serves as the capital of the Palestinian National Authority. He tells us that this is where many Christians live, and it is extremely fascinating for him to interact with the Palestinians.
We all look forward to hearing more about TJG's adventure overseas!

I thought his name was Carl Joseph? Or at least that was the name he was arrested under in Ohio back in the late 90's.

His legal name is Carl James Joseph, but somehow, and for a long time, he doesn't like to be called Carl.
In the documentary, his father still calls him Carl...but he's the only one. Thanks for the comment.

I traveled with Carl back in 1996 with the Rainbow Family. Carl, if you are reading this, I am sorry I took my frustrations about my beliefs in Jesus out on you. My name is Red Sky. We traveled together in a green VW microbus with my girlfriend Fire Eagle. My name is Red Sky.

after watching the jesus guy movie, i was relieved... for the past 2 months there has been this growing thought bubble in my mind - that I - may in fact be the reincarnation of Christ, and have to die for humanity's sins. Psssheww! Now i don't have to worry about that, because TJS "mr james joseph" has taken on/been granted the responsibility of such a role.
Jesus is killed at 35, it looks like mr James Joseph is pushing that(crows feet "you have interesting eyes")...

While i comprehend the reality of the situation, I did feel a little anger towards TJG when the school boys where surrounding him at the table and one boy asked, Why are you doing this? TJG should have had a calm reasonable answer, instead of saying "why do you think im doing this" to a 15 year old. and then get pissy when the boy was genuinely honest in his question, NOT cool TJG. TJG didn't (stop to think) or know the answer to that question. However, this reminds me of jesus's kindness and yet his temper. Jesus was also HUMAN, TJG is also HUMAN. Jesus was no more God than TJS is God. Thats an analogy people, saying that both TJS and Jesus are not God, nor am i God nor are you God.
While Christ is Christ and makes up the Christian religion, im afraid, nay im all for ! the second coming to be religiously removed. Our salvation is in our God, it is not within our minds, God exists way inside and outside of our minds. We as modern intelligent evolve people must accept that God exists and we can have a relationship with something we cant touch.
Thanks for your film
peace out e-peeps

Just found out about The Jesus Guy Documentary. Not sure what to think or believe. Seems like an honest man that truly loves the Lord. I live in Detroit, MI. It would be nice if What's your name could come and visit and talk to our leaders in Detroit.

Haven't seen James Joseph in years, he lived in cullman AL for a while. I had lunch with him once, remarkable person! He is the most knowledgable Catholic I ever met.

Are you planning a sequel? Perhaps of his travels to Israel - Thanks for making your documentary - I just purchased it for my mother who is in a nursing home.

Before I saw the documentary I assumed he was am impersonator or mentally ill.

It is very interesting. His appearance, clothing and manner of travel gains attention which enables him to reach a broad audience with his message but it also seems to confuse some people.

I was left with the understanding that he is a preacher of the Gospel who has sought to live as Christ did, not just spiritually but materially as well.

The criticism of his former benefactor and others seems legitimate and understandable but they seem to assume he is more than human. He is a man struggling through life and trying to resist temptation like all of us.

I enjoyed the documentary and Mr. Tracey did a great job of revealing all the dimensions of "What's his Name" and people's varied reactions to him.

I just watched the Jesus Guy film tonight, 11/22/2010. I vaguely remember hearing of him within the past couple of years. I admire his choice of how to live his life, and his trust in God. If and when I hear about the Jesus Guy again in the future, I will always remember this film. God bless him and all of God's people.

I am from Tampa Florida, and I had the opportunity to see James several times walking on the street.
Every time I spoke to him about my personal problems, he answer to me very intelligent and polite.
I think he is not only proclaiming the good news of heaven but he is also being a good Samaritan who can listen to you and give you conform in the times of sorrow.
I know he is now in Israel and I wish him the best of luck!

where is Carl James Joseph now? in 2013?

His period clothing will probably suit him better in Israel. For some strange reason I think that Jesus would have had the sense to put on a rain jacket and some galoshes if He walked around NE USA in the wintertime, but that's just me speculating. At the beginning of the documentary it seemed perhaps this man was really doing the work of the Lord, sharing the Gospel message of salvation from Gods wrath, but when he began talking about the 'goodness in mankind', and asking the man if he had been praying to Mary, it revealed his ignorance of the depravity of man. read Romans 3 and 2 john 1:10

Why is it so shocking today, in a world of sin and pain, for a man to try to be good and preach the love of Jesus? I'd like to see him here in Simi Valley, near Los Angeles.

I believe the people who have the most trouble believing in James, feel so because of their lack of faith in their self and in the average man around them. James, while human is not ordinary only because he chooses to rise above challenge and see something more positive in every small joy he is given. I wish him great peace always and hope to be given the opportunity to meet with him in person at some point. We should all strive to follow positive perspectives in life and surround ourselves with more people like James. God Bless you and keep you James <3

Perhaps he has a more positive view of life and mankind than you do. You are too judgmental. You don't make everyone's rules, so don't make such insipid assessments because not everyone agrees with you.
